LEBANON, ILL. – The No. 7 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team recorded just five hits at McKendree on Saturday as the Tritons split the Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader. The Tritons won the opener, 1-0, while the Bearcats took the nightcap, 2-0.
UMSL moves to 25-2 overall, including 5-1 in the GLVC, while McKendree is now 9-15 overall and 3-3 in the league.
The loss snapped a 15 game win streak, which ties the third longest in program history, and marked the first time the Tritons have been shut out this season.
UMSL is at Illinois Springfield tomorrow in a 12 p.m. doubleheader.

Alex Stupek followed with a double, which sent Matthies to third before scoring on a throwing error by the Bearcats shortstop.
UMSL was limited to just three hits and didn't pick up its first hit until a leadoff double by freshman
Serena Olson in the sixth inning.
Senior
Hannah Perryman tossed the complete game to pick up her 20
th win in the circle this season. She scattered four hits, while striking out 12 and walking three. McKendree had a baserunner on third base in the second, third and sixth innings.
GAME 2: McKendree 2, UMSL 0A pair of Triton errors led to both Bearcat runs in the third inning, in which McKendree also recorded three of its seven hits.
UMSL was limited to two hits, both by senior
Erin Walker, who recorded a leadoff double in the first inning and a leadoff bunt single in the sixth inning. The Tritons, who struck out seven times, had just three other runners, including two on a walk and one on a hit by pitch.
Freshman
Carly Kingery (5-1) suffered her first loss of the year in the complete game effort. She struck out seven and walked one.
