ROLLA, MO. – Senior All-American
Hannah Perryman struck out 23 in a 12-inning complete game shutout as the No. 8 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team pulled out a 1-0 win in the first of two games at Missouri S&T on Sunday. The Tritons then posted an 8-4 win in the nightcap.
UMSL improves to 41-4 overall, including 19-3 in the GLVC. It is the fifth 40-win season in program history and the fourth straight, with those four coming under the direction of six-year head coach
Brian Levin. Missouri S&T slips to 13-30 and 3-19 in the league.
Perryman also earned the win in the nightcap to improve her record to 36-2. She went five innings, scattering six hits and allowing four runs, while striking out six and walking two. Perryman now has 445 strikeouts this season, which ranks seventh on the NCAA Division II single season list.
UMSL returns home next weekend to host Saint Joseph's and No. 1 ranked Indianapolis on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in its final two regular season home games.
GAME 1: UMSL 1, Missouri S&T 0 (12 inn.) A sac fly from freshman
Serena Olson in the top of the 12
th inning broke the scoreless game and helped give the Tritons the victory in the pitcher's duel.
Perryman walked just one and scattered five hits – all infield singles – while recording her 20
th shutout of the year.
The Lady Miners' Katie Viets also went the distance, limiting the Tritons to three hits, while striking out four and walking six. UMSL stranded nine baserunners in the contest.

Alex Stupek and the Tritons didn't get another hit until a two-out double from senior
Erin Walker that ended a streak of 11 straight retired.

Ryan Logan singled up the middle to lead off the 12
th and was replaced on the basepaths by senior
Kelly McGovern, who was sacrificed over by sophomore
Rachel Matthies. McGovern advanced to third on a wild pitch, setting up Olson's sac fly.
GAME 2: UMSL 8, Missouri S&T 4Freshman
Carly Kingery tallied three hits and earned the save in the circle.
UMSL tallied 11 hits as a team with Matthies adding three. Her RBI single along with another sac fly from Olson in the second inning gave the Tritons an early 2-0 advantage.
The lead grew to 4-0 in the third on Logan's two-run double. Missouri S&T got two runs back in the bottom of the frame on their first extra base hit of the day with a two-run double.
A two-run single from Stupek in the fourth, followed by a Miners error in the fifth extended the lead to 7-2. The Miners plated another two runs on a single in the bottom of the fifth, while in the seventh, Kingery's RBI double accounted for the final score.
Kingery closed out the game with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, while walking three.
