Women's Basketball Welcomes Maryville in Regular Season Finale

SETTING THE SCENE
UMSL concludes the regular season on Thursday, hosting crosstown rival Maryville. The Tritons know they've secured a spot in the 2017 GLVC Tournament, but will be playing for seeding. The league's postseason affair begins on Sunday with first round games at four host sites. The top four seeds earn a bye to the quarterfinals, while seeds 5-8 will host seeds 9-12. Quarterfinal play then begins on Friday, March 3 in Evansville, Ind.

UMSL currently sits in a tie for four-way tie for sixth place in the overall standings with a 9-8 record, while there is the potential for six teams to finish with a 9-9 league mark.

SIZING UP THE TRITONS
UMSL had a five-game win streak snapped last Saturday with a 64-53 loss to No. 9 ranked Drury, which came after a 64-51 win over Missouri S&T on Thursday.

UMSL is 14-11 overall, having won seven of its last 10 games. The Tritons are 7-4 in home games, including 6-2 in GLVC home games, having won five of their last six.

The Tritons have limited seven opponents to fewer than 55 points this season and 10 opponents to fewer than 60 points.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Sophomore transfer Laura Szorenyi averages a team-best 14.7 points per game and has reached double figures in all but two games. She also leads the squad with 31 three-pointers and is second with 45 assists (2.0 apg). In GLVC-only games, Szorenyi averages 15.2 points per game, which ranks 10th.

Junior Jordan Fletcher follows with 14.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 59.0 percent from the field, which ranks third in the GLVC and is also currently third on the program's single-season charts. She has led the team in scoring a team-high 11 times and has seven 20-plus scoring games and also has 29 blocked shots, which ranks ninth on the single-season charts.

Senior Robneisha Lee adds 10.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Maryville is 12-12 overall, including 8-9 in the GLVC. The Saints are 7-4 on the road, including 5-3 in GLVC road games. Maryville shoots 37.4 percent from three-point range, which is third-best in league-only games, and leads the conference in three-point defense, allowing opponents just 28.3 percent.

SERIES RECORD/EARLIER THIS SEASON
UMSL is 11-9 all-time against Maryville, but lost a 62-50 decision to the Saints earlier this season on January 16.
