WATERLOO, ILL. – Junior
Alexa Capesius shot a career-low 145 en route to earning runner-up honors at the GLVC Championships, held Friday-Sunday.
Capesius turned in rounds of 72 and 73, finishing one stroke behind champion Paxton DeHaven of Indianapolis, while helping the Tritons to a second place finish as a team with a score of 593 (297-296), which equals the third-best 36-hole total in program history.
Scheduled for 54 holes, heavy rain and storms throughout the tournament cut play down to 36 holes.
Capesius earned All-GLVC honors for the second time in her career by finishing in the top five, and was joined by junior
Stefaniya Ivanova, who tied for fifth place with a 149 (73-76), earning all-GLVC honors for the third straight year.
UMSL, which finished second for the third straight year, was nine shots back of champion Indianapolis (292-292 – 584), which won for the sixth straight year.
