Box Score 2 CLERMONT, FLA. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team rallied back from a 4-3 nine-inning loss to Saginaw Valley State with a 9-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday at The Spring Games.
GAME 1: Saginaw Valley State 4, UMSL 3 (9 inn.)
Saginaw Valley State used a two-out pinch hit RBI single in the top of the seventh to bring across the tying run en route to rallying for the win.
Freshman
McKenzie Lamos led off the fourth inning with a solo home run for the 1-0 advantage in a pitcher's duel that saw both teams combined for just six hits through six innings.
Lamos then accounted for the tying run in the eighth with a sac fly to make it 2-2. The Cardinals plated two in the top of the ninth and then stranded two UMSL runners on base in the bottom of the frame after the Tritons got one run across.
Sophomore
Jessica Mrzlak and freshman
Annie Scaramuzzi had two hits each for the Tritons, which tallied seven.
Senior
Andee Tiffee took the loss despite 13 strikeouts. She scattered eight hits and allowed four runs, including two earned, while walking just one.
