The UMSL women's golf team has been on a surge the past few weeks.
And that surge hit a new apex Monday as the team wrapped up the first two rounds of the McKendree Dual Gender in first place.
The team shot a 299-286 (585) -- giving them an 11-stroke leader over Lindenwood, the second-place team.
Leading the Tritons was
Tove Brunell, who tallied a 76-66 (142), which was good for first place.
Brunell owns a 3-stroke lead over the second-place individual, Madeline Larouere of McKendree.
"Tove played great. [She is] really gaining confidence the past two weeks," head coach
Troy Halterman said.
UMSL's
Juliette Lecomte is fourth (75-72-147) and counterpart
Manon Labeur (76-73-149) is fifth.
Jenna Teeter is also in fifth with her (74-75-149).
Victoria Klausner is tied for sixth with her 74-76 (150).
The course's length played into the Tritons' hands.
"The course was very good scoring conditions on day one. We took advantage of our length and played the par-5 [holes] well," said Halterman.
