EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team competed this weekend at the SIUE Invite at the SIUE Tennis Courts in Edwardsville, Ill. The Tritons went 7-8 overall in singles matches and dropped seven of the eight doubles matches.
Hannah Tse led the way for UMSL as she went 3-0 in her singles matches as she defeated Saint Louis University's Mya Spencer 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 11-9 on Friday afternoon. She won her first match on Saturday against Lindenwood's Eveline Nilsson 6-1, 6-3 and Tse wrapped up the weekend with a 6-0, 6-2 win over SIUE's Caitlyn Sporing.
Anna Domingo went 2-1 on the weekend as she fell to SLU's Elizabeth Mintusova 7-5, 6-1 on Friday afternoon. Domingo bounced back on Saturday to pick up wins over Lindenwood's Juliana Kulczynski 6-2, 6-2 and SIUE's Jill Lambrechts 6-4, 6-0.
Maja Lietzau and
Anna Favaron each went 1-2 on the weekend while
Kaitlyn Challis was 0-3.
In doubles play, Tse teamed up with Lietzau to go 1-2 on the weekend. The duo beat Lindenwood's tandem of Kulczynski and Alina Jensterle 6-4, fell to SIUE's duo of Lambrechts and Jaiden McKeee 6-1 and SLU's team of Mintusova and Ksenia Aleshina 6-4.
The duo of Favaron and Domingo fell to SIUE's Sporing and Amelia Gorman 6-1 and Lindenwood's tandem of Nilsson and Jordan Le 6-4 on Friday. Domingo and Favaron lost to SLU's Spencer and Sandra Gines 6-4 in its lone doubles match on Saturday.
Challis paired with SLU's Jacqueline Hijaouy and went 0-2 on Friday. They fell to SIUE's duo of Melissa Vizcardo and Jessica Leeman 6-2 and Lindenwood's team of Trang Tan and Nawal Cheema 7-5.
The Tritons wrap up their fall schedule this Friday (Oct. 7) as it hosts Missouri Baptist at 1:30 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
