ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams competed in its final tune-up before the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at the UAH Invitational on Saturday morning at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
The Triton men were led by
Benjamin VandenBrink as he finished 23rd in a field of 470 runners with a time of 24:08 on the 8 kilometer course.
Matthias Shelp was the second Triton to cross the finish line at 26:18.
Toby Middleton wasn't far behind Shelp finishing at 26:19.
Sam Savastino came in at 26:21 and was followed by
Sean Ede at 26:25,
Michael Wright at 27:23 and
Brett Lynch finished at 27:26 to round out the scoring.
Also competing for the Tritons were
Gavin Love who came in at 27:55,
Ricardo Menjivar crossed the line at 30:02 and
Donald Mahoney finished at 30:45.
The UMSL women were led by
Kayley Heeter who covered the 5 kilometer course in a time of 19:56. She was followed by
Lily Wagemann at 20:08,
Peyton Brueck came in at 20:30,
Megan McMillen finished at 20:37,
Natalie Wiedl and
Ella Tynan both crossed the line at 22:07 and Lauren Bearden-Kyser finished at 23:51.
The Tritons return to the course on Saturday (Nov. 5) for the GLVC Cross Country Championships at Principia North Farm XC Course in Elsah, Ill.
