MBB Preview: No. 18 Tritons Host Drury, Missouri S&T this Weekend

ST. LOUIS – The No. 18 University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team tips off a three-game homestand this Thursday against Drury at 7:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building. The Tritons will also take on Missouri S&T on Saturday at 3 p.m.

UMSL (6-0, 1-0 GLVC) extended its season opening winning streak to six with a 70-65 win at then No. 22 Southwest Baptist on Monday evening. Isaiah Fuller led the Tritons with 16 points in the contest while Dylan West added 12 points and Mayson Quartlebaum finished with 10 points. Quartlebaum and Matt Enright had six rebounds apiece.

UMSL is fifth in the GLVC in scoring this season at 75.7 points per contest and leads the conference in points allowed at 57.2 points per game. The Tritons scoring margin of +18.5 is second only to Missouri S&T at +22. UMSL is second in the league in field goal percentage at 51 percent and leads the conference in three-point field goal percentage at 41.2 percent. The Tritons are fourth in the league in field goal percentage defense at 39.1 percent and have held opponents to just 28 percent shooting from three which is best in the conference.

Fuller leads UMSL in scoring at 13.7 points per game while Enright is averaging 9.5 points per contest and West and Bowen Sandquist are at 9.2 points per outing. West leads the team with 5.3 rebounds per game while Fuller is averaging 5.0 rebounds per contest. Donovan Vickers leads the Tritons with 20 assists and 11 steals.

About Drury – The Panthers enter Thursday's contest with a record of 2-4, 1-1 GLVC and have dropped four straight after suffering an 82-79 loss to S&T on Monday evening in Springfield.

The Panthers are averaging 74.7 points per game this season while allowing 76.5 per contest. They're shooting 45 percent (151-for-333) from the floor including 39.4 percent from three and are shooting 72 percent at the foul line. Drury is being outrebounded by 6.4 rebounds per game this year.

The Panthers have five players averaging double figures in scoring led by Quenton Shelton with 12.8 points per game. Adam Moore and Brock Wakefield are each averaging 10.3 points per outing while Preston Cook and Riley Naeger are contributing 10.2 points per contest apiece. Moore leads the team with 5.2 rebounds per game. Shelton, Wakefield and Trey Lewis are tied for the team lead with 12 assists.

About Missouri S&T – The Miners enter Saturday's contest at 5-1 and are 1-1 in GLVC play. S&T bounced back from a 78-75 loss at Southwest Baptist on Saturday with its win at Drury on Monday evening.

The Miners lead the conference in scoring at 87.8 points per game and in field goal percentage at 52.1 percent. They're also second in the league in field goal percentage defense at 38.8 percent and fourth in scoring defense at 65.8 points per outing. S&T is the top rebounding team in the GLVC with 40.7 rebounds per game.

Julien Smith leads the Miners in scoring and is second in the GLVC with 17.0 points per contest. Ikenna Okeke is second on the team and tied for ninth in the league with 13.8 points per outing while Kaden Froebe and Lovell Williams are averaging 13.0 and 12.7 points per game respectively. Froebe leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per contest while Okeke is averaging 5.8 rebounds per outing. Williams has distributed a team-high 20 assists.
