ELSAH, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's cross country team finished eighth with a score of 204 points at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at Principia's North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Ill.
The Tritons had two runners earn All-GLVC accolades as
Benjamin VandenBrink finished 13th overall in a field of 143 runners with a time of 25:42.20. It's the highest finish for an UMSL runner at the conference championships.
Toby Middleton came in 20th with a time of 25:53.10. He was named the GLVC's Freshman of the Year by virtue of being the top freshman finisher. Middleton was followed by
Sam Savastino who crossed the line at 27:14.20 to finish 50th.
Brett Lynch finished at 27:34.30 and was 56th in the field,
Gavin Love came in at 28:05.80 while
Michael Wright and
Matthias Shelp finished at 28:22.30 and 28:50.80 respectively.
The Tritons return to the course in two weeks as they'll compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis.
