ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams combined to go 5-0 at the UMSL Winter Quad Meet on Friday evening at the UMSL Swimming Pool. The 21st ranked men's team defeated No. 20 Missouri S&T 138-66, Maryville 171-27 and Quincy 165-30 while the women beat the Saints 155-47 and the Hawks 165-18.
The Triton women won 10 of the 11 events contested while the Triton men picked up nine event wins.
UMSL's women took the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Kate Nelson,
Zara Konstapel,
Kristen Stalder and
Ava Boehning won the race with a time of 1:50.68 while the quartet of
Lily Franzen,
Olivia Gawronski,
Sarah Nelson and
Stephanie Schoemans were second at 1:53.83.
Mackenzie Greenley and
Callie Clinton finished first and third in the 1,000 free with times of 11:34.25 and 12:05.54 respectively.
The Tritons took three of the top four spots in 200 free with
Franziska Hauptmann winning the race in a time of 2:00.60 while
Madison Bottorff was second at 2:02.73 and Stalder came in fourth at 2:07.00.
UMSL had eight swimmers finish in the top 16 in the 50 free.
Natalie Arthur took second at 26 seconds while
Isabella Gruidl was third with a time of 26.31 seconds and
Averi Meade came in fourth touching the wall at 26.63 seconds.
The Tritons claimed the top six spots in the 200 individual medley with
Maria Serra winning the race in a time of 2:16.50 while
Julia Gorska and
Ashleigh Baros were second and third at 2:21.34 and 2:23.28 respectively.
UMSL also took the top five spots in the 100 fly with Clinton winning the race in a time of 1:00.53. She was followed by Schoemans at 1:00.88 and K. Nelson finished in a time of 1:01.42.
Arthur won the 100 free with a time of 56.14 while Gruidl finished third at 56.88 seconds and
Brooklyn Messenger came in fourth in a time of 57.65 seconds.
Boehning took the top spot in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.16. Greenley was close behind at 1:03.83 while S. Nelson and Meade took fourth and fifth respectively at 1:05.05 and 1:06.08.
Hauptmann and Bottorff went 1-2 again in the 500 free with Hauptmann winning the race in a time of 5:23.71 while Bottorff came in at 5:34.81.
Konstapel was the winner in the 100 breast at 1:07.78 while K. Nelson took fourth and Gawronski was fifth in times of 1:11.04 and 1:11.11 respectively.
The Triton 400 free relay team of Hauptmann, Bottorff, Boehning and S. Nelson won the event at 3:43.68. The team of Gorska, Gruidl, Arthur and
Rebecca Bechtel was second in a time of 3:49.20 and the foursome of Clinton,
Lizzie Bitner, Messenger and Meade finished third with a time of 3:56.83.
On the men's side, UMSL finished first and third in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Ryan Conner,
Austin Stevenson,
Conley Savage and
David Reynolds won the event with a time of 1:32.82 while the quartet of
Dawson Norton,
Elliot LaBeau,
Ethan Boehle and
Spencer Hyatt came in third at 1:38.71.
Aaron Wicklund and
Davis Donicht took second and fourth in the 1,000 free with times of 9:58.53 and 10:08.33 respectively.
Jon Osa won the 200 free in a time of 1:44.35 while
Aiden Clark was third at 1:44.85 and Conner came in fifth at 1:47.52.
Reynolds and Stevenson went 1-2 in the 50 free with Reynolds edging out Stevenson for the win. Reynolds touched the wall at 21.30 seconds while Stevenson finished at 21.36 seconds.
The Tritons took three of the top four spots in the 200 individual medley with
Guillem Masjuan Roca winning the race in a time of 1:54.24. Wicklund took third at 1:56.93 and
Sergio Santisteban was fourth at 1:58.28.
Savage was the winner in the 100 fly finishing at 50.70 seconds while Boehle took third with a time of 52.44 seconds.
UMSL claimed three of the top four spots in the 100 free. A. Clark won the race with a time of 47.31 seconds while Masjuan Roca was second at 47.56 seconds and
Ryan Clark took fourth in a time of 48.40 seconds.
Osa won his second event of the night taking the 100 back in a time of 50.41 seconds. Conner and Santisteban were third and fourth with times of 51.37 and 53.97 seconds respectively.
Wicklund and Donicht were second and third in the 500 free. Wicklund finished at 4:49.13 while Donicht came in at 4:55.25.
Stevenson and R. Clark went 1-2 in the 100 breast with Stevenson touching the wall at 58.02 seconds with Clark not far behind at 58.66 seconds.
The Triton 400 free relay team of Osa, Masjuan Roca, A. Clark and Reynolds won the event with a time of 3:07.21 while the quartet of Santisteban, Donicht,
Mason Stimson and R. Clark took third at 3:20.63.
UMSL's next scheduled meet will take place on Jan. 13 at Washington University-St. Louis at 5 p.m.
