Women's Golf in Fifth Place After Day 1 of NCAA East Regional

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team opened play at the NCAA DII East Regional on Monday by shooting a 312. 

The Tritons sit in fifth place, but are just seven strokes behind second place Indianapolis. Findlay leads the field of 15 teams after shooting a 292. 

All participants in the East Regional will compete through 54 holes of competition. The top five teams, along with the top two individuals not with one of those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championships May 10-14 in Gainesville, Ga. 

Freshman Tove Brunell shot a 76 to pace UMSL and is tied for 16th. 

The Tritons begin teeing off tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. for their second round.
