KANSAS CITY – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team had four student-athletes named to the 2021-22 National Association of Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) Honors Court on Tuesday (July 19). The list recognizes those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.
Those honored Tritons include graduate students
Kellen King (business management) and
Shane Wissink (marketing), senior
Yaakema Rose Jr. (education) and junior
Lawrence Brazil III (business).
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior, senior or graduate student player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA)of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2021-22academic year. 3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
UMSL is coming off a stellar season that saw them go 26-7 overall including a 14-5 mark in the GLVC. The Tritons won their first GLVC Championship in program history defeating Indianapolis 66-56 in the finals and advanced to the NCAA Midwest Regional Final.
