ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams concluded the regular season on Saturday afternoon with victories over Truman State on Senior Day at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
The 20th ranked men defeated the Bulldogs 151-51 while the women won 144-60.
The Tritons honored their 16 seniors prior to the start of the meet.
The men and women combined to win 18 of the 22 events in the meet.
For the men, the 200 medley relay team of
Guillem Masjuan Roca,
Ryan Clark,
Conley Savage and
Aiden Clark won the race with a time of 1:34.66 while the team of
Ryan Conner,
Elliot LaBeau,
Will Nickel and
Sergio Santisteban was second at 1:37.91.
Darquez Morrison and Conner finished first and second in the 1000 freestyle with times of 10:51.90 and 11:11.73 respectively.
The Tritons claimed the top three spots in the 50 free. Stevenson won the event with a time of 21.38 seconds while Osa finished at 21.63 seconds and A. Clark came in at 21.67 seconds.
Savage was the winner in the 400 individual medley turning in a time of 4:06.96. He was followed by
Aaron Wicklund at 4:16.25 and Santisteban at 4:19.96.
David Reynolds and Stevenson went 1-2 in the 100 free with Reynolds winning the race in a time of 47.14 seconds while Stevenson was right behind him at 47.50.
Masjuan Roca, Osa and
Dawson Norton went 1-2-3 in the 100 back. Masjuan Roca won the race in a time of 51.84 seconds while Osa was second at 52.08 seconds and Norton came in at 54.40 seconds.
Santisteban, Wicklund and
Mason Stimson took the top three spots in the 500 free. Santisteban was the winner at 4:54.18 while Wicklund finished at 4:55.69 and Stimson was third with a time of 5:02.82.
UMSL dominated the 100 breast with five of the top six finishers. A. Clark won the race in a time of 58.07 while R. Clark wasn't far behind at 58.24 seconds. Savage was third at 59.17 seconds, LaBeau took fourth at 1:02.64 and Malcom Hunter was sixth with a time of 1:06.68.
The Tritons 200 free relay team of Stevenson,
Ethan Boehle, Osa and Reynolds won the event with a time of 1:24.37 while the squad of
Spencer Hyatt, Stimson, Wicklund and Norton was third at 1:29.83.
On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of
Kate Nelson,
Zara Konstapel,
Sarah Nelson and
Madison Bottorff won the race with a time of 1:50.60 while the foursome of
Brooklyn Messenger,
Olivia Gawronski,
Callie Clinton and
Natalie Arthur took second at 1:53.54.
Rebecca Bechtel was the winner in the 1000 free with a time of 11:09.25 and
Lizzie Bitner took third at 11:40.83.
Stephanie Schoemans, Bottorff and
Julia Gorska claimed three of the top four spots in the 200 free. Schoemans won the event with a time of 1:58.79, Bottorff was second at 2:03.36 and Gorska finished fourth at 2:04.10.
Ava Boehning, S. Nelson and Arthur went 1-2-3 in the 50 free with Boehning winning the event in a time of 24.62 seconds. Nelson was second at 25.18 seconds and Arthur took third at 25.67 seconds.
Isabella Gruidl took the top spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:48.28 while
Maria Serra took third in a time of 4:49.94.
Boehning picked up her second event of the competition in the 100 free with a time of 53.98 seconds. S. Nelson was third at 54.54 seconds and K. Nelson was fourth with a time of 54.86 seconds.
Schoemans and Messenger went 1-2 in the 100 back with Schoemans winning in a time of 1:00.04 whiel Messenger finished at 1:01.58. For Schoemans it was her second event win of the day.
Konstapel and Gawronski finished first and second in the 100 breast. Konstapel came in at 1:07.80 while Gawronski finished at 1:10.28.
The 200 free relay team of Boehning,
Franziska Hauptmann, Schoemans and K. Nelson won the event in a time of 1:39.79 while the squad of Bottorff, Arthur, Gruidl and
Kristen Stalder came in at 1:41.52. The team of Bechtel,
Averi Meade, Serra and
Amanda Hei was third at 1:46.45.
The Tritons return to the pool on Wednesday (Feb. 8) for the start of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet will be held at the Deaconess Aquatics Center in Evansville, Ind.
