ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's cross country team recorded an eighth place finish with 223 points on Saturday morning at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at the Bolivar Municipal Golf Course in Bolivar, Mo.
The Tritons were led by
Kayley Heeter who finished 24th in the six-kilometer race with a time of 23:14.78. She was followed by
Bella Massaro and
Lily Wagemann who finished 36th and 37th overall with times of 24:01.49 and 24:04.21 respectively.
UMSL's top five scorers were completed by
Megan McMillen who came in 56th place in a time of 25:36.62 and
Peyton Brueck was 70th with a time of 26:18.72.
Ansley Casey and
Ella Tynan finished with times of 26:43.49 and 27:28.11 respectively.
Lewis claimed its second straight team title finishing with 28 points, Drury was second with 67 points followed by Southwest Baptist in third with 97 points. The Flyers Hannah Smrcka was the individual champion with the winning time of 21:13.23.
UMSL's
Zoey Losch was named as the team's honoree for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award at the conclusion of the meet.
The Tritons next competition will be at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional on Nov. 4 in Evansville, Ind.
