SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's cross country team recorded a ninth place finish Saturday at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships at the UIS Cross Country Course.
The Tritons were led by
Kayley Heeter as she finished in 47th place overall in the 140-runner race; she posted a time of 23:24.29 in the six-kilometer event.
Bridget Ragan finished 66th in 24:08.16,
Ella Tynan was 90th in 25:13.37 and
Bella Massaro in 25:17.59.
UMSL's fifth scorer was
Melissa White with a time of 27:04.02 while the sixth and seventh finishers were
Lily Wagemann in 27:55.05 and
Zoey Losch at 31:20.78.
The Tritons finished with 264 points to finish comfortably in the team standings. Lewis captured its third straight championship with a perfect score of 15 points while Southwest Baptist took second with 77 points as it edged Truman State by five points for the runner-up spot.
Lewis' Hannah Smrcka was the individual champion as she covered the course in a shade under 21 minutes finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of her teammate Caroline Pacer-Ryan.
UMSL will compete at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional on Nov. 9 in Romeoville, Ill.
