COLUMBIA, Mo. – Benjamin VandenBrink and
Jacob Warner finished first and second respectively and helped lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's cross country team to a second place finish with 54 points at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational on Saturday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
VandenBrink won the 8-kilometer race in a time of 24:45.22 and had a pace of 7:56 per mile. Warner finished a second behind with a time of 24:46.24.
Toby Middleton crossed the line at 25:28.87 to finish in 11th place.
Jonny Key made a late push in the last mile of the race to finish 17th at 25:48.01.
Matthias Shelp came in 23rd in a time of 26:05.99 while
Emmett Johnson finished 26th at 26:25.25. Rounding out the scoring for the Tritons was
Julio Cruz Jr. who was 28th at 26:39.38.
UMSL returns to the course on Saturday (Oct. 21) as it travels to Bolivar, Mo., for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.
