Tritons travel to Illinois for Pair of Contests this Weekend

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team looks to snap its two-game skid as it heads to Illinois for a pair of contests this weekend. The Tritons (4-3, 2-2 GLVC) will take on Quincy on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and then wrap-up the trip against Illinois Springfield on Saturday at 1 p.m.

UMSL went 1-2 last week opening with a 74-60 win over Upper Iowa last Monday but fell to William Jewell 77-67 on Thursday and to Rockhurst 62-53 this past Saturday. Jalysa Stokes led the team in scoring with 18.7 points per game in the three contests while Amaya Blake added 11 points per outing and Morgan Ramthun added 10 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. Alex Wolff chipped in with 8.7 points and 10 rebounds per game.

About Quincy – The Hawks enter Thursday's contest with a record of 3-5 overall but are 3-1 in GLVC play with their only loss coming to 12th ranked Drury 81-56 last Monday evening. Quincy owns wins over William Jewell (74-62), Missouri S&T (64-57) and Maryville (66-53).

The Hawks have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Janiece Dawson with 11.0 points per contest while Cymirah Williams and Achempomaa Danso are averaging 10.9 and 10.5 points per outing respectively. Danso also leads the team with nine rebounds per contest and Williams has a team best 18 steals.

About Illinois Springfield – The Prairie Stars entire Thursday's contest against McKendree with a record of 5-2 including 3-1 in the GLVC and have won their last two contests. UIS snapped a two-game skid with a 79-74 road win at Maryville last Thursday and then defeated Missouri S&T 78-71 this past Saturday. The Stars also own a 71-69 exhibition win over Division I Indiana State.

Jessenia Lawson leads UIS in scoring (16.7 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg), assists (29) and steals (20). Michaela Gibbons is averaging close to 13 points per contest while Liz Uhl is contributing 12.6 points per game.

Up Next – The Tritons conclude their three-game road trip traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan next Saturday to take on the Panthers at 1 p.m. at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
