UMSL Women’s Hoops Set To Take On Crosstown Rival Maryville

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball looks to break a two-game losing streak as it takes on crosstown rival Maryville this Thursday (Feb. 16) at 5:15 p.m. at Moloney Arena.

The Tritons enter Thursday's game with a record of 9-14, 7-10 GLVC while the Saints are 14-10, 9-8 GLVC.

Last Time Out – UMSL lost at second ranked Drury 86-63 last Saturday afternoon. Jalysa Stokes finished with a game-high 27 points while Kiara Stewart added 13 points and eight rebounds and Morgan Ramthun added 10 points and six boards.

Race for the Postseason – Despite losing both of their games last week the Tritons remained seventh in the latest edition of the GLVC's Point Rating System which determines the eight teams for the GLVC Tournament which will be held March 2-5 at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. UMSL holds 0.19 lead over Southwest Baptist and trails Maryville by 0.18 points for sixth.

1,000-1,000 Club – With her 14 rebounds at Missouri S&T last Thursday, Stewart became the third player in school history to have at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career. Heading into Thursday's game she has scored 1,191 points and grabbed 1,016 rebounds. Stewart is currently third all-time in rebounding and eighth in scoring.

Conference Rankings – Stokes is second in the GLVC in scoring this season with her average of 17.7 points per game while Stewart leads the league in rebounding with 10.0 per outing and offensive rebounding with 4.5 per game. Stokes is also sixth in the conference in three-point field goals made with an average of 1.96 per contest and 15th in three-point field percentage at 34.9 percent.

About Maryville – The Saints enter Thursday's contest having won three of their last four games after splitting last weekend. They began the week with an 81-57 loss at Drury last Thursday before defeating Southwest Baptist 84-75 on Saturday afternoon. Haidyn Pitsch poured in a career-high 31 points against the Bearcats on 12-of-20 shooting including 5-for-7 from three-point range. Antoinette Mussorici added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Taylor Kirby chipped in 11 points and six boards.

Series History – UMSL leads the all-time series against Maryville 18-13 and has won the past three meetings including an 80-68 decision last month at the Mark Twain Building.
