UMSL Men’s Basketball Hosts Greyhounds, Bearcats to Conclude Regular Season

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's team wraps up its regular season this weekend with a pair of home contests. The Tritons will take on fourth ranked Indianapolis this Thursday (Feb. 23) at 7:30 p.m. and then will welcome McKendree for a 3 p.m. tip on Saturday afternoon.

UMSL will honor its four seniors: Isaiah Fuller, Trever Moore, Victor Nwagbaraocha and Bowen Sandquist prior to the start of Saturday's game.

The Tritons (18-8, 10-8 GLVC) are tied with Quincy for sixth in the latest edition of the GLVC's Point Rating System with a rating of 3.31 heading into Thursday's game with the Greyhounds. The top eight teams in the final PRS will advance to next weekend's GLVC Tournament at Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo.

UMSL dropped its fourth straight game last Thursday with its 72-63 loss at Maryville last Thursday. Nwagbaraocha led four Tritons in double figures with 16 points in the contest while Fuller had 15 points, Sandquist added 13 points and Drew Cisse finished with 10 points.

About Indianapolis – The Greyhounds (24-2, 16-2 GLVC) moved up two spots in this week's NABC Coaches Poll and have won 18 straight contests. UIndy holds the top spot in the PRS with a rating of 4.39 and is ahead of William Jewell by 0.81 points for the number one seed in the conference tournament.

Back on Jan. 14, the Hounds defeated the Tritons 77-70 in Indianapolis behind 23 points from Jesse Bingham while Kendrick Tchoua added 19 points. Jakobie Robinson and Bruno Williams added 12 and 10 points respectively.

As a team, UIndy leads the GLVC in scoring defense giving up just 63 points per game and is ranked third scoring 77.6 points per outing. It also leads the league in rebounding with 37.1 per contest and is holding opposing teams to 39.9 percent shooting from the field.

Bingham leads the Greyhounds and is third in the conference in scoring at 16 points per game while Tchoua leads the league in field goal percentage at 74.4 percent and is third in rebounding with 7.8 per contest.

About McKendree – The Bearcats enter Thursday's contest at Maryville with a record of 13-12, 9-9 in the GLVC and are 10th in the PRS with a rating of 3.14. They trail the Saints by 0.07 points for the final spot in the GLVC Tournament.

McKendree went 1-1 last week losing to Missouri S&T 70-68 last Thursday then defeated Drury 79-64 on Saturday afternoon.

Back on Jan. 12, UMSL defeated the Bearcats 83-73 in Lebanon, Ill. The Tritons hit 15 3-pointers in the contest including 11 in the second half. Fuller finished with a game-high 25 points in that contest.

This season, McKendree is led in scoring and rebounding by Bryson Bultman with 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game; his scoring average ranks second in the conference. Milos Vicentic is averaging 15.4 points per outing which is seventh in the conference.

As a team, the Bearcats are averaging 73.2 points per game but are giving up 73.1 per outing. They rank second in the conference in field goal percentage at 48.1 percent.
