ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team opens the home portion of its 2023 schedule this Thursday (March 2) as it hosts Davenport in a doubleheader at the UMSL Softball Field starting at 1 p.m.
The Tritons (4-6) went 1-3 at the Washburn Invitational last weekend as they defeated Southwest Minnesota State 4-0 last Sunday but fell to Nebraska-Kearney 7-5, Pittsburg State 7-2 and Emporia State 5-1.
UMSL is hitting .274 as a team and averaging 4.0 runs per game.
Irene Travis leads the squad with a .412 batting average.
Corinne Daley and
McKenzie Lamos have each hit two home runs while Lamos leads the team with 10 RBI.
In the circle, the Tritons have a team earned run average of 3.31 with two complete game shutouts.
Annie Scaramuzzi leads the team with a record of 2-1 and has a 1.40 ERA. She has struck out 26 batters in 25 innings pitched and is holding opponents to a .156 batting average.
Jenna Towle is 2-1 in four appearances this season.
After starting its season with a record of 3-1, the Panthers have dropped eight straight heading into their doubleheader at William Jewell on Wednesday afternoon.
Davenport is hitting .215 as team and averaging 2.6 runs per game. Gabby Palazzolo leads the squad with a .333 batting average with three home runs and nine RBI.
In the circle, the Panthers have allowed 82 runs, 60 earned, in 75 innings pitched and have a team ERA of 5.60. Kelsey Byers is 1-4 on the season with a 4.15 ERA striking out 21 hitters in 27 innings pitched.
