Tritons Secure Number Two Seed for GLVC Medal/Match Play Championships

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team finished second with a score of 939 (303-322-314) in the stroke play portion of the GLVC Women's Golf Championships on Saturday at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, Mo.

With their second place finish the Tritons earned the number two seed and will take on third seeded Illinois Springfield in the semifinal round of the medal/match play championships on Sunday morning. The other semifinal is between fourth seeded Drury and top seeded Indianapolis.

UMSL had three golfers finish in the top 15 on the individual leaderboard as Tove Brunell finished in a tie for sixth with a 54-hole score of 228 (73-78-77), Wilma Zanderau finished a shot behind Brunell in a tie for eighth with a score of 229 (72-81-78) and Victoria Klausner was tied for 12th with a score of 234 (79-76-79). Juliette Lecomte finished in a tie for 32nd at 249 (79-88-82) and Momo Kikuchi was tied for 45th with a score of 260 (84-87-89).

UIndy's Katelyn Skinner was the individual medalist finishing with an even par score of 216 (70-75-71) and the Greyhounds had the lowest team score at 892 (289-308-295).

Sunday's action gets underway at 8 a.m. with both semifinal contests. The Drury-UIndy match will tee off on the first hole while the match between UIS and UMSL will tee off on hole number 10. The two semifinal winners will meet in the championship round in the afternoon.
