No. 22 Women’s Golf Splits Pair of Matches on Monday at UNG Bracket Challenge

ST. LOUIS – The 22nd ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team split its two matches at the University of North Georgia Bracket Challenge at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer, Ga., on Monday. The Tritons, seeded third, tied with West Georgia, seeded sixth, 2.5-2.5 in its quarterfinal contest and lost to seventh seeded and host North Georgia 4-1 in the championship semifinal.

In its match against West Georgia, Tove Brunell shot a 70 to beat Ainsley Cowart by one stroke while Victoria Klausner shot a 69 to beat Erica Couch by 14 shots. Wilma Zanderau shot a 79 in her match with Katherine Densmore and lost by six strokes. Juliette Lecomte fell her in match against Maddy Schultz by seven shots. The match came down to the final pairing between Momo Kikuchi and Kamryn Roberts. Roberts led by three strokes heading into the final hole but triple bogied the par four ninth to finish in a tie with Kikuchi.

The Tritons won the tiebreak by virtue of having a fewer number of total strokes. UMSL had a total of 380 strokes while the Wolves totaled 382 strokes.

In the semifinal round, Klausner picked up her second win of the day defeating Kennedy Noe by eight shots. Brunell lost in her match with Danielle Humphrey by two strokes, Zanderau fell to Amari Smith by a shot, Lecomte dropped her contest against Lainey Painter by two strokes and Kikuchi was beaten by Jadin Ware by four shots.

The Tritons face fifth seeded Columbus State in the third-place match on Tuesday beginning at 7:50 a.m. (CDT) at Chimney Oaks Golf Club.
