ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams both finished fifth at the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday at Detweiler Park in Peoria, Ill. The Triton men finished with 111 points while the women had a score of 149 points.
On the men's side, UMSL had two runners finish in the top 12 and were led by
Benjamin VandenBrink who finished fourth in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 24:15.60 while
Jacob Warner crossed the line in 12th place in a time of 24:43.70.
Matthias Shelp finished 39th overall at 26:11.00,
Sam Savastino and
Emmett Johnson finished back-to-back with times of 26:21.20 and 26:22.40 respectively.
Gavin Love crossed the line at 26:30.10 and
Sean Ede rounded out the top seven finishers for the Tritons at 26:35.00.
Bradley won the team championship with a score of 24 points with its top seven runners all finishing in the top 15.
For the women,
Lily Wagemann led the way finishing 19th in a time of 18:12.90 in the three-mile race. She was followed by
Kayley Heeter who was 24th at 18:25.60.
Bella Massaro took 35th with a time of 19:17.40 while
Megan McMillen finished at 20:08.10,
Ansley Casey crossed the line at 20:50.70,
Peyton Brueck finished in a time of 20:52.40 and Ella Tyan crossed the finish line at 21:24.90.
Bradley won the team championship with a score of 21 points with its top seven runners all finishing in the top 15.
UMSL returns to the course on Saturday (Sept. 30) when they compete in the Live in the Lou Classic at Tom E. Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.
