ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team seeks to get back on the winning track in Great Lakes Valley Conference play as it heads on the road for a pair of tough games at UIndy and Lewis this weekend.
The Tritons will open their weekend at UIndy, where they will meet up in a 6:30 p.m. (CST) contest on Thursday in Indianapolis and then will head to Romeoville, Ill., on Saturday to face Lewis in a 3 p.m. game at Neil Carey Arena.
Thursday's game is a battle for the top spot in the conference standings with the Greyhounds currently holding a one-game lead over UMSL for the top spot.
The Tritons (7-8, 5-2 GLVC) had their four-game GLVC winning streak snapped last Saturday in an 83-78 loss to McKendree at the Mark Twain Building.
Troy Glover II led the way for UMSL with 19 points and 14 rebounds. He was joined in double figures by
Mayson Quartlebaum with 16 points while
Terrell Kabala had 12 points and
Kris O'Neal II added 10 points off the bench.
Matt Enright leads the Tritons in scoring this season with 12.8 points per game and is joined in double figures by
Emanuel Prospere II with 11.1 per contest while Quartlebaum and Kabala
are averaging 10.3 and 10.1 per outing respectively.
Glover II leads the team and is tied for second in the GLVC in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game. Over his last three games he's averaging 14.7 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field.
About UIndy – The Hounds (10-5, 6-1 GLVC) had their eight-game overall and six-game GLVC winning streak snapped in a 73-71 loss at William Jewell last Saturday. UIndy tied the game at 71 with 1:44 to play on a three from Josiah Tynes but the Cardinals retook the lead on free throws from Kyle Scharbrough and Isaac Patterson. The Hounds had a chance to win the game but David Ejah's three-point shot at the buzzer was off the mark.
Jesse Binghman leads UIndy in scoring with 15.1 points per game. He is joined in double figures by Kendrick Tchoua and Paul Zilinkas with 11.1 and 10.3 points per outing respectively. Ejah leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 boards per contest while Tchoua is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game. Bingham leads the team in assists (32), steals (23) and blocked shots (22).
About Lewis – The Flyers enter Thursday's contest against McKendree with a record of 8-7 including 4-3 in the GLVC and have lost two of their last three contests. In its last game, Lewis led Rockhurst 52-49 with 15:46 to play but the Hawks dominated the rest of the way outscoring the Flyers 45-20 to hand them a 94-72 defeat.
Beau Frericks leads the team in scoring with 15.9 points per contest and is joined in double figures by Jamere Hill and Gary Solomon with 12.3 and 11.7 points per outing. Ryan Renfro leads the team and the GLVC in rebounding with 7.2 boards per game. Hill leads the squad with 45 assists while Solomon has recorded 19 steals.
