ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team looks to snap a two-game skid as it resumes Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a split weekend. The Tritons will take on crosstown rival Maryville on Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 p.m. at Moloney Arena and then will return home to take on Truman State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
UMSL (5-7, 3-1 GLVC) went 0-2 at the High Desert Classic in its final games before the holiday break.
Troy Glover II led the way for the Tritons averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game.
Emanuel Prospere II added 10.5 points per contest while
Terrell Kabala added 10 points per outing.
Matt Enright continues to the lead the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game. He has made a team-high 20 three-point baskets and leads the team with 38 assists to go along with 15 steals. Prospere II is scoring 11.2 per contest while
Mayson Quartlebaum is contributing 10.0 points per game. Glover II leads the team with 6.2 rebounds per game and blocked shots with 17.
About Maryville – The Saints enter Wednesday's contest with a record of 4-5 overall but are 0-3 in conference play. Maryville overcame an 11-point deficit to defeat Southwest Minnesota State 58-51 in its final game before the holiday break on Dec. 19. Luke Williams paced the Saints with 15 points while Dewayne Vass had 10 points and four assists.
Maryville is led by Vass who is averaging 13.8 points per game while shooting 68.8 percent from the field and leads the team with 45 assists and 23 steals. Williams is averaging 12.1 points per outing while Ari Jackson has made a team-high 20 three-point baskets and is averaging 8.7 points per contest. Tutu Chisholm leads the team with six rebounds per game.
About Truman State – The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's contest against UIndy with a record of 4-6 overall including 1-1 in the GLVC. Truman defeated former MIAA rival Central Missouri 77-63 in its final game before the Christmas break at the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs had four players reach double figures in scoring in that contest led by Kobi Williams and CE Talton with 16 points each. Landon Eiland grabbed nine boards in that game while Xavier Hall added seven assists.
Truman has three players averaging in double figures, led by Williams at 12.3 points per game. Trey Shearer has a team-leading 22 three-point baskets and is averaging 11.4 points per outing while Hall is scoring 11.1 per contest and leads the team with 55 assists.
