ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team looks to snap its three-game losing streak as it returns to the court on Wednesday against Maryville with an afternoon matinee at 1 p.m. at Moloney Arena. The Tritons are back at home on Saturday hosting Truman State at 1 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building.
UMSL (6-6, 4-2 GLVC) is coming off an 88-65 loss at Parkside last Friday.
Jalysa Stokes, the team and the GLVC's leading scorer at 19 points per game, led the Tritons with 19 points while
Amaya Blake added a season-high 18 points and
Alex Wolff and
Emerson Weller had nine and seven points respectively.
Blake is averaging 10.6 points per contest this season while
Morgan Ramthun is averaging 10.3 points per outing and leads the team and is third in the conference in rebounding at 8.6 boards per game.
Audrey Martinez-Stewart continues to lead the team with 30 assists and 17 steals.
About Maryville – The Saints enter Wednesday's contest riding a two-game winning streak. They are 4-7 overall but 1-4 in the GLVC. Maryville hasn't played since Dec. 14 when it defeated Hannibal-LaGrange 96-38 in its final game before the break. Madyson Rigdon led four Saints in double figures with 21 points while Antoinette Mussorici recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Maryville has three players averaging in double figures, led by Carsyn Fearday with an average of 14.9 points per game. Mussorici is scoring 13.1 per outing and leads the Saints with 19 steals while Haidyn Pitsch has a team-leading 31 three-point baskets and is averaging 12.1 points per contest.
About Truman State – The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's contest against UIndy with a record of 3-7 overall including 0-4 in the GLVC and have dropped four straight. Truman defeated Blackburn College 119-35 in an exhibition contest last Saturday as five Bulldogs reached double figures in the contest led by Lizzie Boehm with 23 points off the bench.
Truman has three players averaging in double figures, led by Ellie Weltha at 18.9 points per game. Weltha is second in the GLVC in scoring right behind Stokes. She also leads the conference with 9.2 rebounds per game and in field goal percentage at nearly 60 percent. Claire Rake has a team-leading 25 three-point baskets and is averaging 10.2 per outing while Ainsley Tolson is scoring 10.1 per contest and leads the team with 38 assists.
