UMSL Women’s Hoops Hosts Miners, Saints in Weekend Homestand

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team returns to the Mark Twain Building this week for a two-game homestand against Missouri S&T and crosstown rival Maryville.

The Tritons (7-10, 5-6 GLVC) take on S&T to open the homestand on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., then plays host to Maryville in a Saturday matinee game beginning at 1 p.m. UMSL comes into play this week looking to snap a three-game losing streak after losing games at Indianapolis and Lewis last weekend.

The Tritons led for a good portion of the game last Thursday at UIndy but the Greyhounds outscored UMSL 26-17 in the fourth quarter in a 72-67 victory. The Tritons led by as many as five in the second half last Saturday against the Flyers and were up four with less than four minutes to play but Lewis finished the game on a 10-2 run to pick up the 70-66 victory.

Jalysa Stokes averaged 20 points per game in the two outings last weekend and was joined in double figures by Audrey Martinez-Stewart who averaged 11.5 points per contest while Alex Wolff and Mara Rieder added 11 ppg apiece. Rieder and Morgan Ramthun led the way on the glass averaging 8.0 and 7.0 rebounds per outing respectively.

With her 40 points last weekend, Stokes became the 18th player in school history to score at least 1,000 points in a career and is currently 13th on the school's all-time list with 1,029 points. She continues to lead the team and GLVC in scoring at 19.5 points per game. Martinez-Stewart is fifth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.6 and tied for 13th in assists per game with 2.9 while Ramthun is ranked seventh in the league in rebounding at 8.0 boards per game.

Stokes is the team's lone double figure scorer, with Amaya Blake averaging 9.4 points per contest while Ramthun and Wolff are contributing 8.9 and 7.6 points per outing respectively. Martinez-Stewart is the team's top three-point shooter owning a 33.3 percent mark.

About Missouri S&T – The Miners enter Thursday's contest with a record of 5-14 overall including 2-9 in the GLVC and are winners of their last two contests. They defeated Rockhurst 74-60 last Thursday to snap a nine-game conference losing streak before picking up their second straight win with one of their best shooting performances of the season in a 79-67 win over William Jewell.
Katelynne Roberts, this week's GLVC Player of the Week, leads S&T and is second in the conference in scoring at 17.7 points per game. She leads the team and is fourth in the conference in rebounding at 8.4 boards per game and leads the conference in field goal percentage at 58.5 percent and is tied for third in blocked shots with 1.4 per game.

She is S&T's lone double figure scorer, with Eryn Puett averaging 9.1 points per outing and owing a 36.8 percent mark from three-point range. Bonnie Lew Ludlow and Addyson Kent are averaging 7.9 and 7.5 points per game respectively.

About Maryville – The Saints enter Thursday night's contest at McKendree with a record of 9-8 overall including 6-5 in the GLVC, have won three straight and seven of their last eight overall. Maryville won both its games last week by an average of 33.5 points as it defeated William Jewell 95-64 and Rockhurst 96-60.

Haidyn Pitsch led the team in scoring averaging 22 points per game while Antoinette Mussorici dropped in 18.5 points per outing, Carsyn Fearday added 15 points per contest and Karlee Feldman averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and 13 rebounds per game.

Fearday leads the Saints in scoring this season with an average of 13.9 per outing and she is joined in double figures by Mussorici and Pitsch with 13.8 and 12.1 points per contest respectively. Pitsch owns a 32.8 percent mark from the three-point line.
