Box Score ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team closed out the SIUE Invite picking up nine wins across singles and doubles play at the SIUE Invite this past weekend at the SIUE Tennis Courts in Edwardsville, Ill.
Freshman
Morgan Lint led the way on the singles side picking up two wins at number four singles. She defeated William Woods Zara Littlejohn 6-0, 6-0 and SIUE's Paige Duncan 6-1, 6-3.
Junior
Hannah Tse went 1-1 in number one singles play defeating William Woods Mireria Simon Sanchez 6-1, 6-1 and fell to SIUE's Margaux Guibal Britt in three sets. Tse won the opener 6-4 but dropped the final two 1-6, 3-10.
Junior
Anna Favaron went 1-1 on the weekend falling to Kristina Dimitrijevic in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at number two singles but rallied to beat SIUE's Cydney Rogers 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Freshman
Giuliana Cunza also went 1-1 beating Manon Grasset (WWU) in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 but fell to Chloe Koons (SIUE) 6-2, 6-0.
Tse and Lopez paired up to win both of their doubles matches defeating the tandem of Dimitrijevic and Sophie Hausner (WWU) 6-2 and then defeated Guibal Britt and Paige Duncan in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-1).
Lint and Favaron went 1-1 at number two doubles. They beat Sanchez and Littlejohn (WWU) 6-3 but fell to Rogers and Duncan (SIUE) 6-1.
Cunza and sophomore
Lauren Sweeney lost to Grasset and Chloe Hecker 7-5 and SIUE's Koons and Payton Tomichek 6-3.
The Tritons wrap up their fall schedule on Saturday (Oct. 12) hosting Missouri Valley at 11 a.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
