BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The No. 16 University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team got a record setting performance finishing the first day of the National Preview with a school record 36-hole total team score of 562 (277-285) and is tied for third overall at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
The Tritons also set a new school record with their opening round score of 277 and held the lead after the first round.
Senior
Juliette Lecomte led the way for UMSL finishing in a three-way tie for second with a score of 136 (67-69). Her score is tied for second with Emma Thorngren for second best in school history for 36 holes.
Junior
Wilma Zanderau shot a 139 on the day with rounds of 68 and 71 and is in a six-way tie for ninth. Freshmen
Emmy Wahl and
Mayan Covarrubias each shot an even par score of 144 and are tied for 25th overall. Wahl had back-to-back rounds of 72 while Covarrubias shot a 70 in the first round and a 74 in round two.
Sophomore
Hillary Currier finished the day with a score of 148 (75-73) and is tied for 44th. Freshman
Hope Williams, competing as an individual, had a 36-hole score of 159 (78-81).
The University of Texas at Tyler's Arnie Taguines sits atop the individual leaderboard with a score of 134 (70-64) while Cal State San Marcos is the team leader with a score of 549 (279-270) heading into Tuesday's final round.
The final round on Tuesday tees off at 10 a.m. (CDT).
