ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team is in fourth place with a score of 326 after the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship tournament at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill.
Friday's schedule originally called for 36 holes but Mother Nature had other ideas as a long weather delay only allowed the completion of the first round.
Wilma Zanderau and
Victoria Klausner led the way for the Tritons and are tied for fifth overall on the player leaderboard with a score of 80 while
Juliette Lecomte and
Ebba Wernered finished tied for 20th with a score of 83.
UIndy's Matilda Cederholm sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 77 and is two shots ahead of Illinois Springfield's Elaine Grand and Quincy's Karlie Schnepp and Lily Vardaman who all shot a 79. UIndy posted a team score of 320 and holds a five-shot lead over Maryville and Quincy heading into Saturday's competition.
The field will now look to get two rounds tomorrow, starting with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The top four teams after 54 holes of stroke play will advance to the medal/match play semifinals on Sunday. Meanwhile, the top five finishers after stroke play will be named All-GLVC.
