ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team finished second with a score of 950 (326-309-315) in difficult weather conditions in the stroke play portion of the GLVC Women's Golf Championships on Saturday at Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill.
With their second place finish the Tritons earned the number two seed and will take on third seeded Drury in the semifinal round of the medal/match play championships on Sunday morning. The other semifinal is between fourth seeded Maryville and top seeded Indianapolis.
UMSL had four golfers finish in the top 15 on the individual leaderboard as
Wilma Zanderau finished as the runner-up in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 232 (80-75-71). With her second place finish, Zanderau earned All-GLVC honors
. Ebba Wernered and
Juliette Lecomte were tied for eighth at 240. Wernered had rounds of 83-78-79 and Lecomte turned in scores of 83-77-80.
Victoria Klausner finished in a tie for 13th at 243 (80-79-84) and
Momo Kikuchi was tied for 24th at 249 (87-83-79).
UIndy's Matilda Cederholm was the individual medalist finishing with a score of 226 (77-77-72) and the Greyhounds had the lowest team score at 928 (320-313-295).
Sunday's action gets underway at 8 a.m. with both semifinal contests. The Maryville-UIndy match will tee off on the first hole while the match between Drury and UMSL will tee off on hole number 10. The two semifinal winners will meet in the championship round in the afternoon.
