Zanderau Four Shots Off Lead at NCAA DII Championships

ORLANDO – Sophomore Wilma Zanderau of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team enters Wednesday's second round just four shots off the lead at the NCAA DII Championship at Orange County National – Panther Lake in Orlando, Fla.

Zanderau is tied for 27th with a +1 score of 73. The top 34 players on the leaderboard are within four strokes of each other.

After recording pars on her first three holes, she went on a run of four birdies in her next four holes and was tied for the lead through eight holes. Zanderau double bogied the par four ninth hole and bogied three of the first four holes on the back nine but finished the round strong with five straight pars.

All 18 teams and eight individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play after which an individual national champion will be declared. The top eight teams after 54 holes of play advance to medal/match play with the quarterfinals and semifinals being played on Friday and the national championship on Saturday.

Zanderau tees off at 12:30 p.m. (CDT) on Wednesday.
