ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's cross country team finished 14th out of 47 teams with 441 points at the Southern Showcase on Friday morning at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. The Tritons finished fourth amongst Division II teams in the event.
Benjamin VandenBrink led the way for UMSL finishing 44th in the field of 464 runners in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 24:53.6 and averaged 5:00.4 per mile.
Jacob Warner crossed the line at 25:13.5 to finish 65th and
Toby Middleton was 93rd overall at 25:30.5.
Will Kaempfe finished in a time of 26:01.4 and was followed by
Luke Stevenson at 26:47.87 and
Emmett Johnson came in at 27:01.11.
Clayton Schneider and
Sam Savastino had times of 27:24.1 and 27.26.7 respectively and
Caleb Leach finished at 27:40.9.
The Tritons also sent teams to compete at the Illinois State Redbird Invite in Bloomington, Ill. The men finished eighth with 214 points and were led by
Armando Montoya who finished in a time of 27:03.6.
Devon Fanning and
Gavin Love came in at 27:41.0 and 27:53.7 respectively.
On the women's side, UMSL finished 10th with 261 points.
Kayley Heeter led the way for the Tritons finishing in a time of 24:25.0 while
Ella Tynan and
Bridget Ragan crossed the line in times of 25:37.6 and 25:38.1.
Lily Wagemann finished at 26:26.90 and
Bella Massaro came in at 27:04.5.
The Tritons are back in action on Saturday (Sept. 28) competing at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., and at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
