ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams were in action on Saturday competing at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. and the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Triton squad at the Cowboy Jamboree finished 12th out of 17 teams with a score of 316 and finished third amongst non-Division I schools. They were led by
Jacob Warner who finished 47th in a field of nearly 200 runners in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 25:19.3.
Will Kaempfe and
Toby Middleton were the next UMSL runners to cross the finish line with times of 26:11.1 and 26:13.6 respectively. Rounding out the scoring for the Tritons were
Luke Stevenson and
Emmett Johnson. Stevenson finished at 26:57.4 and Johnson came in at 27:03.1.
Julio Cruz Jr. crossed the line at 27:26.4 and
Clayton Schneider had a time of 27:35.9.
UMSL's men squad at the Chile Pepper Festival finished 24th with a score of 762 points.
Rafael Montemayor led the way finishing the 8K race in a time of 27:22.3 and was followed by
Devon Fanning at 27:38 while
Devin St. Clair finished at 27:48.2.
Gavin Love,
Parker Griffin,
Sean Keys and
Willem Hummel rounded out the scoring for the Tritons. Love crossed the line at 28:15.2, Parker finished in a time of 28:41.2, Keys finished at 29:10.8 and Hummel came in at 29:42.3.
The Triton women's team finished fifth out of 23 teams in the Prairie Fire Pepper 5-kilometer race at the Chile Pepper Festival.
Kayley Heeter was UMSL's top finisher as she came in 13th with a time of 19:32.2. She was followed by
Ella Tynan and
Bridget Ragan who were 30th and 35th with times of 20:29.7 and 20:45.3 respectively.
Bella Massaro came in at 21:29.5,
Ansley Casey finished at 22:12.5,
Lily Wagemann crossed the line at 22:17 and
Melissa White rounded out the scoring with a time of 22:57.4.
The Tritons return to the course on Saturday (Oct. 12) as it hosts the Brian T. Simpson Invite at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at 9:20 a.m. and will be followed by the women's 5K race at 10 a.m.
