Tritons-Saints To Meet For Third Time This Season

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team will face a familiar foe as it begins its quest for a Great Lakes Valley Championship taking on Maryville this Friday (March 7) at 6 p.m.

This year's tournament will once again be held at Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. It marks the third straight year that the men's and women's tournaments will be held at this venue.

The Tritons finished the regular season with an overall record of 19-8 including 13-7 in GLVC play to secure the number four seed in this weekend's event and will face the fifth seeded Saints. UMSL is making its 20th appearance in the GLVC Tournament, second straight and fourth in the past five years.

Friday's contest marks the third meeting this season with Maryville. The Tritons won the first meeting 75-53 back on Dec. 2 at the Mark Twain Building and 57-52 at Moloney Arena on Jan. 23. This marks the second time the two sides have met in the GLVC Tournament with the Saints winning the first meeting 75-61 in the first round of the 2012 GLVC Tournament at Moloney Arena.

Tickets for this year's tournament can be purchased in advance online at the Featured Ticket Link at the top of this story. Doors will open one hour prior to session start time.
