INDIANAPOLIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis freshman
Logan Mayo has been voted the Great Lakes Valley Conference Freshman of the Year while head coach
Troy Halterman was tabbed by his peers as the GLVC Men's Golf Coach of the Year as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Joining Mayo on the All-GLVC team are freshman
Trigg Lindahl and sophomore
Dani Solavera.
Per Conference policy, each of the top-five finishers at the GLVC Championships automatically earn an All-League nod, with the remaining five competitors and major award winners voted by the 13 head coaches.
Mayo is UMSL's third Freshman of the year and first since
Leo Baudry in 2023. He's played in 35 rounds during the 2024-25 season with a 71.80 stroke average with a season-low of 67. Mayo won the Findianapolis Intercollegiate as well as capturing a runner-up finish at the Arch Cup back in September in his first collegiate event.
He is ranked sixth in the GLVC, 14th in the Midwest Region and 128th in Division II. Mayo helped the Tritons to three runner-up finishes to go along with five top-five results. He finished in a tie for sixth at the GLVC Championships with a score of 216 (78-71-67) with a tournament-low score in the third round.
Halterman wins his fifth Coach of the Year award and fifth overall for UMSL. He led the Tritons to a semifinal finish in the GLVC Championship Medal/Match play. Halterman mentored UMSL to three runner-up finishes, to along with five top-five results. He guided Mayo to his major award and Lindahl and Solavera to All-GLVC recognition.
Lindahl earns his first All-GLVC nod in his career. He has played in 35 rounds during the 204-25 campaign with a stroke average of 72.26 including a season-low of 64. Lindahl was named GLVC Men's Golf Player of the Week this past fall. He has three top-five and five top-10 finishes this season and finished in tie for third with a score of 214 (72-67-75) at the GLVC Championships.
Solavera also earns his first All-GLVC accolade. He has played in 35 rounds this season with a stroke average of 72.66 including a season-low of 64. Solavera was named GLVC Men's Golf Player of the Week this past fall. He has one top-five finish and two top-10 finishes in 13 events. Solavera finished in a tie for 12th at the GLVC Championships with a score of 219 (74-71-74).
Additionally,
Andres Aguiree was one of 13 student-athletes named as their team's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honoree for distinguishing themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced later in May.
The Tritons were also recognized with the Spalding Team Sportsmanship Award.
UMSL finished in a tie for third at the GLVC Championship, was selected to the program's 12th straight NCAA Regional and finished second at the NCAA Central/Midwest Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2022.
