ST. LOUIS – Five University of Missouri-St. Louis softball student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2025 Academic All-District team.
Representing the Tritons are
Ashley Borowitz,
Gwyn Miller,
May Pasqualini,
Megan Russell and
Simia Spahiev.
Borowitz, a nursing major, has a 4.00 cumulative GPA. She made 25 appearances with 22 starts in the circle this season going 10-10 with a 3.38 earned run average. In 143 innings pitched she struck out 116 batters and held opposing hitters to a .235 batting average. Borowitz struck out a season-high 11 batters against Missouri S&T on March 16.
Miller, an international business and supply chain management major, had 3.8 cumulative GPA. Miller started all 45 games this season hitting .284 with 18 RBI and had 15 extra-base hits and led the team with 10 doubles. Her 40 hits this season were good for third on the team.
Pasqualini is majoring in early childhood special education and has a GPA of 4.00. She started all 45 games at shortstop this season and was second on the team with her .307 batting average and second in hits with 42. Her 25 walks led the team and she finished third in stolen bases with four.
Russell is an elementary education (special education) major with a 3.69 GPA. She started 38 games this season registering 21 hits and five RBI while going 3-for-3 in stolen bases. Defensively, Russell had a fielding percentage of .984 recording only one error in 63 chances.
Spahiev is a biology major with an emphasis in pre-med with 3.74 GPA. She led the team in home runs with six and RBI (27). She hit walk-off home runs this season on back-to-back days in wins over Quincy and Upper Iowa. Spahiev was tied for second on the team with nine doubles.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have appeared in at least 90 percent of a team's games or started at least 66 percent of the team's games. For pitchers, they must have made 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. They must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
The 2025 Academic All-America team for softball will be announced on Tuesday, June 17.
