ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball concludes its three-game home stand against Maryville this Saturday on Chuck Smith Court at 3 p.m.
Saturday's game will be A White Out with everyone encouraged to wear white for the game. There will be rally towels given away, along with giveaways, bingo cards and a caption contest.
The Tritons look to continue to move up the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings after evening their conference record at 5-5 with a 78-64 win over Lincoln last Saturday afternoon.
Taye Moore led four UMSL players in double figures with 18 points.
The Tritons are currently eighth in the conference standings but are two games out of fourth in the loss column as McKendree, Rockhurst, William Jewell and Indianapolis all sit at 6-3 heading into Thursday's games.
UMSL won the first meeting against the Saints this 69-52 back on December 9 at Moloney Arena.
Vincent Davis III led the way for the Tritons that evening with 18 points while
Jake Hamilton and
Blessed Barhayiga added 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Tritons enter Saturday's game giving up the second fewest points per game this season at 66.7 per contest ranking behind McKendree who is yielding just 61.8 points per outing.
Moore leads UMSL in scoring this season with 14.1 points per game and is joined in double figures by Hamilton with 11.6 points per contest while Davis and
Makeer Makeer are at 10.6 and 10.0 per outing respectively.
Davis is second in the GLVC in field goal percentage at 60.6 percent while Hamilton is eighth in that category at 51.2 percent. Moore is tied for 10th in the GLVC in three-point field goals with 2.1.
Miles Boland leads the GLVC with 93 total assists but has dropped to third in assists per game with 4.9 and is tied for second with Illinois Springfield's Jordan Rice with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.7. Boland is also third in the conference with 1.9 steals per game.
About Maryville – The Saints (2-16, 0-10 GLVC) are coming off their best offensive showing of the season after putting up 80 points in a 92-80 loss to No. 12 Missouri S&T last Saturday at Moloney Arena. Evan Palmquist led Maryville with 30 points in the contest while Henry Sanchez added 20 points. Palmquist and Sanchez accounted for 10 of the Saints season-high 13 three-point field goals against the Miners.
Palmquist is the team's leading scorer at 18.8 points per game and he's joined in double figures by Noah Courtney at 12.3 points per outing and Sanchez contributing 11.7 points per contest. Kobe Clark is the team's leading rebounder with 9.1 per game and has a team-best 66 assists.
