Tritons In Second Place After First Day of GLVC Championship Tournament

PERU, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team shot a 36-hole total team score of 602 (301-301) and is in second place after the first day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship tournament at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind., on Friday.

The Tritons have three players in the top 10 after 36 holes and were led by Hillary Currier and Wilma Zanderau are tied for fourth while Mayan Covarrubias is in a tie for eighth place.

Currier had rounds of 76 and 73 while Zanderau turned in scores of 75 and 74 and Covarrubias shot a 152 (75-77). Alaina Ervin finished her day shooting a 155 (76-79) and is tied for 13th place and Hope Williams had rounds of 79 and 77 to finish her day at 156 and tied for 14th. Emmy Wahl had a score of 160 (75-85) and is tied for 31st overall.

UIndy's Ava Ray is the individual leader after 36 holes with a score of 139 (68-71) and holds a five-shot lead over her teammate Paige Giovenco who shot an even par score of 144 (73-71). The Greyhounds sit atop the team leaderboard with a total team score of 586 (291-295).

The final round of the stroke play portion of the championship tees off on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. (CDT) at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind. The top four teams in the standings at the conclusion of Saturday's round will advance to Sunday's match play championship where the GLVC champion will be crowned.
