PERU, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team finished second out of 13 teams with a total team score of 910 (301-301-308) in the stroke play portion of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship tournament at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Ind., on Saturday.
With their second place finish, the Tritons will be the number two seed in Sunday's match play semifinal and will take on third seeded Maryville starting at 8 a.m. (CDT). Top seeded UIndy will take on fourth seeded Lewis in the other semifinal.
Senior
Wilma Zanderau finished third overall in a field of 74 golfers with a 54-hole score of 221 (75-74-72) and was named the GLVC's Women's Golf Player of the Year in the awards ceremony following the conclusion of the round.
Hillary Currier finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 227 (76-73-78),
Hope Williams was tied for 13th turning in a score of 235 (79-77-79),
Mayan Covarrubias and
Alaina Ervin were tied for 20th with respective scored of 236. Covarrubias had rounds of 75-77-84 while Ervin shot 76-79-81.
Emmy Wahl finished in a tie for 25th with a score of 239 (75-85-79).
UIndy's Ava Ray was the individual medalist with a 54-hole score of 213 (68-71-74) and won by seven shots over her teammate Paige Giovenco. The Greyhounds won the stroke play portion of the championship with a total team score of 890 (291-298-304).
