ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region in the third NCAA regional rankings that were released Wednesday (April 29) afternoon.
The top seven teams in the final rankings will earn a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Midwest Region is comprised of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC).
The Tritons are seeking their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018 when it advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinal round in Surprise, Ariz., and its fourth in program history (2014, 2017 and 2018).
UMSL is 13-4 on the season including 4-0 in the GLVC East Division and have won their last seven matches. It has wins over two regionally ranked teams: sixth ranked Rockhurst and eighth ranked UIndy.
The NCAA will unveil its field of 48 teams on Monday, May at 7 p.m. (CDT) during a selection show on NCAA.com.
The Midwest Region will hand out three automatic bids to conference tournament winners from the GLVC, GLIAC and GMAC. Four teams will earn at-large bids to the tournament.
The Tritons will be the No. 1 seed in the GLVC's East Division and will take on the winner of No. 2 West Drury and No. 3 East Maryville in the semifinal round on Saturday (May 2) at 12 p.m. (CDT) at Center Grove High School in Indianapolis.
