ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball seniors
Mitch Bonczkowski and
Eli Cartwright added more honors to their resumes as each were named All-Americans. The pair become the first players since Austin Simokaitis in 2015 to earn the accolade and are the 30th and 31st in program history.
Bonczkowski was a First Team selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and a Second Team pick by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Cartwright landed on the Third Team on both the NCBWA and D2CCA squads.
Bonczkowski had a record breaking season for the Tritons in 2026 as he set the program's single season records for hits (92), home runs (23), total bases (179) and runs batted in (75). His .852 slugging percentage was second best while his 59 runs scored were tied for third most and his .438 batting average was ninth best in a single season.
Bonczkowski also holds the UMSL career record for home runs with 32 and slugging percentage (.796) is tied for second all-time with a career batting average of .407, tied for fifth with an on-base percentage of .480, eighth with 270 total bases and is ninth with 107 runs batted in.
He was a First Team All-GLVC selection and a First Team All-Region pick by the NCBWA, D2CCA and ABCA.
Cartwright led the Triton pitching staff with an 8-3 record and had a 3.00 earned run average in 15 starts on the mound this season. He tied the program's single season record with 101 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a .206 batting average. Cartwright threw the eighth no-hitter in program history in a 4-0 win against Southwest Baptist on March 28.
His eight wins this season are tied for fourth most in a single season in school history. Cartwright led the GLVC in strikeouts and was second in strikeouts per nine innings with 12.63. He leads the conference with a 3.00 ERA and in hits allowed per innings (6.38) and is tied for the league lead with 15 starts.
Cartwright was the GLVC Pitcher of the Year, a First Team All-GLVC selection and a First Team All-Region honoree by the NCBWA, D2CCA and ABCA.
UMSL finished its 2026 season with a record of 34-22 including 24-8 in the GLVC. It finished second in the regular season standings, won its first conference title since 2003 defeating top seeded Missouri S&T 13-8 in the championship game, advanced to its first NCAA Tournament since 2003 and won its first NCAA Tournament game since 1996 defeating Wayne State (Mich.) 10-5 in the first round at Illinois Springfield.
