Chris Pearson and
Tyler Collico each scored once in the second half to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team erase a 1-0 halftime deficit en route to a 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Illinois-Springfield Friday night.
Pearson scored off a pass from junior
Matt Burrus 10 minutes into the final half of play to knot the game at 1-1, while Collico connected on the game-winner at the 70:41 mark. It was Pearson's fourth goal of the season, while Collico scored his sixth.
UMSL, which recorded its third straight victory, improves to 9-6 overall, including 8-5 in the GLVC, while UIS slips to 2-14 overall and 1-12 in the league.
The Prairie Stars got on the board in the 31st minute and outshot UMSL, 6-4, in the first 45 minutes of play. The Tritons held a 7-4 edge in the second half.
Collico fired five shots, while Pearson had two, both of which landed on goal.
Senior
Patrick Ream played all 90 minutes in goal, recording four saves.
UMSL returns to action Sunday, hosting No. 11 ranked Quincy at 2:30 p.m.
