Drury's Double Overtime Penalty Kick Snaps Men's Soccer's Win Streak

SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team saw its five game win streak snapped on Sunday with a 2-1 double overtime loss at No. 19 Drury in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Panthers' Shane Woods was fouled in the box at the 105:03 mark and converted on the ensuing penalty kick for the game-winner.

The Tritons fall to 6-3 overall with the loss, including 5-2 in the GLVC, while Drury improves its ledger to 8-1-1 and 6-1-1 in the league.

Junior Matt Burrus gave UMSL an early advantage in eighth minute, scoring from 10 yards out on the left center side off a Clay Stocker pass. It was Burrus' first goal of the season and the second of his career.

The Tritons held the lead until the 74:14 minute mark when an UMSL own goal evened the game at 1-1.

Drury fired 23 shots to UMSL's 10 and owned an 8-6 edge in shots on goal and a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior keeper Patrick Ream played all 105:03 in goal, registering six saves.

Burrus accounted for four Triton shots, placing three on target, while freshman Tyler Collico took three shots, landing two on goal.

UMSL returns to action Friday, hosting Lewis on 7:30 p.m.
