ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team scored twice in a span of two minutes 34 seconds en route to a 2-0 victory Friday night over visiting Illinois Springfield in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Senior
Matt Burrus scored on a header in the box at the 62:53 mark off a free kick on the right side from freshman
Evan Garrad, while sophomore
Jon Huelsman netted his team-leading sixth goal of the season two and a half minutes later with a shot 14 yards out from the top of the box.
The win moves the Tritons to 7-6 overall, including 6-5 in the GLVC, while the Prairie Stars slip to 5-9 and 4-7 in the league.
UMSL finished with nine shots, including five on goal, while UIS recorded eight shots, three on goal. Burrus fired three shots, while Huelsman took two, placing both on target.
Junior
Nick Lenkman improved to 5-1 in goal, recording three saves.
UMSL returns to action on Sunday, hosting Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m. in the regular season home finale. Prior to the game, the Tritons will honor seniors
