LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team and Bellarmine played a nearly even 110 minutes, drawing a 1-1 double overtime tie on Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Both teams fired 15 shots with the Knights owning a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Both goals were scored in the first half off a pair of free kicks following a foul. UMSL took an early 1-0 lead in the 21
st minute when sophomore
Tyler Collico headed it in off senior
Matt Burrus' free kick. The Knights then followed suite in the 36
th minute for the equalizer.
UMSL moves to 8-6-2 overall, including 7-5-2 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine is now 8-4-4 and 6-4-4 in the league. The Tritons improve their current unbeaten streak to six games, including four wins and two ties. Burrus has recorded three goals and one assist during that stretch.
Junior
Nick Lenkman recorded four saves, playing all 110 minutes in goal. He is now 6-1-2 in between the posts this season.
Sophomore
Jon Huelsman registered four shots, while Burrus took three.
UMSL will close out the regular season at Maryville on Wednesday in a 12:30 p.m. contest.
