SETTING THE SCENE
The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team looks to continue its three-game win streak when it hosts Maryville on Saturday in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener.

UMSL IN GLVC OPENERS
UMSL is 1-15 in GLVC openers. The Tritons are hosting Maryville for the second straight season. The Saints were 73-64 winners in last year's league lid-lifter.

SERIES HISTORY
UMSL is 7-6 all-time against Maryville, although the Saints have won five straight meetings. In addition to last year's GLVC opening win, Maryville also posted a 69-61 on its home court in the GLVC finale.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Maryville is 4-2 and coming off a 113-66 win over Oakland City in which they set a school record for points in a game. The Saints also played at UMKC on Wednesday night in an exhibition game, falling 83-79 after nearly overcoming a 21-point deficit. Samantha Robison leads three players in double figure scoring with 13.0 points per game, while Alex Hillyer averages 12.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Maryville was picked to finish second in the GLVC West Division in the preseason coaches poll.

SIZING UP THE TRITONS
UMSL improved to 4-1 overall with a pair of victories in its own Hilton Holiday Classic last weekend. The Tritons defeated Harris-Stowe, 76-36, on Friday before an 86-47 win over Missouri Baptist on Saturday. UMSL was picked to finish seventh in the GLVC West Division Preseason Coaches Poll.

AN UMSL WIN AGAINST MARYVILLE WOULD...
... snap a five-game losing skid to the Saints.
... give the Tritons a GLVC opening win for the first time since the 2005-06 season (UMSL defeated Kentucky Wesleyan, 64-56).
... move the Tritons to 4-0 at home.
... be the fourth straight win.
... improve the Tritons to 5-1 - their best start since the 2005-06 team began the year 5-0.
