QUINCY, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team posted a 3-0 shutout at Quincy before rallying for a 6-3 victory in the nightcap as the Tritons swept Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Quincy on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons improve to 24-10 overall, including 15-3 in GLVC play, while maintaining their lead in the West Division. Quincy slips to 13-22 and 8-13 in the league.
UMSL is slated to be back in action tomorrow, hosting McKendree in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
GAME 1 –UMSL 6, Quincy 0
Freshman
Hannah Perryman and sophomore
Brittni Chapman combined for the two-hit shutout, while UMSL recorded nine hits offensively.
Sophomore
Madison Zbaraschuk was one of four players to tally two hits and helped the Tritons to a quick 3-0 first inning lead with a three-run homerun.
Junior
Ashleigh King stretched the advantage to 4-0 in the second inning with an RBI single that scored freshman
Katie Schultz who reached on a one-out single to the pitcher.
Schultz then drove home sophomore
Katie Wood with a single in the third inning for a 5-0 lead. Wood also crossed the plate in the fifth inning as the Tritons took advantage of a one-out Quincy error.

Haleigh Jenkins all added two hits each.
Chapman (11-5) picked up the win, working four and two-thirds of an inning in relief. She surrendered just one hit, while striking out four. Freshman
Hannah Perryman struck out five in two and one-thirds of an inning, while also issuing four walks and allowing one hit.
GAME 2 – UMSL 6, Quincy 3
Quincy scored three runs on four hits in the first inning for the early advantage before UMSL rallied back with six unanswered runs for the win.
Jenkins delivered a two-run homer in the third to put the Tritons on the board, while King knocked one out to lead off a four-run sixth inning for UMSL. The final three runs in that frame came courtesy of three straight wild pitches.
Jenkins recorded two of the Tritons' six hits, while Perryman picked up the win in four innings of work. She allowed all three Quincy runs on two hits, while striking out six and walking two. Chapman completed three scoreless innings of relief work, scattering four hits.
