Men's Soccer Travels to Missouri S&T on Friday and Drury on Sunday


SETTING THE SCENE
UMSL looks to continue its success on the field this weekend when they travel to Missouri S&T tonight and Drury on Sunday.
 
SIZING UP THE TRITIONS
The Tritons are 6-1-1 overall, including 5-1 in the GLVC and sit in a tie for second place in the GLVC standings with Rockhurst, which handed UMSL its first loss of the season last Friday. The Hawks and Tritons are one game behind league leader Quincy, who travels to Rockhurst tonight. Senior goalkeeper Nick Lenkman ranks fourth in the conference in goals against average (0.69), while offensively, the Tritons are out shooting their opponents 100-86. Freshman Nick Werner (three goals and two assists) and sophomore DJ Bednar (three goals and two assists) both have eight points for the Tritons.    
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Missouri S&T is 3-4-1 overall, including 2-3-1 in the GLVC, are coming off a 2-1 win over Truman State last Sunday. As a team, the Miners rank second in the GLVC in saves averaging 5.88 per game. Offensively, sophomores Mitch Morris (two goals) and Eduardo Abichabki (one goal and two assists), and freshman Martin Klvjer (one goal and two assists) lead the Miners with four points each. Missouri S&T has scored just seven goals this season, while allowing 12.
 
Drury enters a Friday contest against Maryville with a 6-2 overall record, including 4-2 in the GLVC. Senior Alec Nagel has scored six goals on the season. Defensively, senior goalkeeper Logan Ponche has recorded 21 saves with three shutouts.
 
LAST YEAR AGASINT THESE OPPNENTS
UMSL fell to Missouri S&T 2-1 in overtime; the Tritons found the net in the 57th minute on a free kick. Then freshman Evan Garrad sent it into the box allowing another UMSL player to send it into the net.
 
UMSL defeated then No. 4 Drury 2-1. Then sophomore Tyler Collico had one of the goals for the Tritons, and then junior goalkeeper Nick Lenkman recorded three saves for UMSL.

UMSL returns home hosting Lewis and Wisconsin Parkside, Friday and Sunday, respectively.
